These are SERIOUSLY the best chocolate chip cookies ever. I know, I know, you’ve heard it all before – but spare me the skeptical scoff because they are the real deal.
This will become your go-to, classic cookie recipe that you will bring everywhere with you… In fact, I may have a printed copy of it in my planner, because you never know when you’ll need to save the day with sweets (don’t judge!).
These cookies are from one of my absolute favorite bloggers: Jenna at EatLiveRun. I’ve read her book and made many of her recipes, so when she said that these are her favorite cookies? Of course I was running to preheat the oven. I knew they’d be worth it. The brown sugar makes them the perfectly tender, chewy consistency. I’ve found that can make them darken more quickly, however, so be careful on the timing! I usually air on the side of caution and pull them out a couple seconds before I think they’re done so that they stay soft.
Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2.5 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon sea salt (in the dough, plus more for sprinkling on top after!)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups packed dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 sticks butter, softened (2 sticks)
- 1 bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat the oven to 350. Whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Set aside. Cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each one. Add the vanilla and mix gently to combine. Add the flour to the butter and mix. Carefully stir in the chocolate chips. Bake for about twelve minutes, or until just golden.
Sprinkle with sea salt while they cool.
